2025 Week 45 - What Iām Doing Now
I just finished up and published my latest video to YouTube. It was titled "Twig Stove Shootout" and compared the Solostove Titan, Uberleben Stoker and Firebox G2. I think all these stoves were great and they are all fun to use. I don't really think there is a "best" choice among the 3, and the video was more to compare the features of each to see if one work better for you over the others. In a lot of ways, it was a lot more work than I was expecting, and yet I could have stayed on that topic for at least twice as long.
With that being out of the way, my brain is already working on the plan for the next video. I don't want to give it all away, but I will say it is about a very cook lighting solution for the outdoors.
Behind the scenes I am spending a lot of time trying to increase quality of video, dealing with storage and backup of large files and deciding between saving money for upgrading video equipment versus using it for video content. It's always a balance.
Outside of the work things, we were able to have a fun time on Halloween trick or treating, and spent a lot of time outside this weekend with a lot of time focused on cleaning up the barn. It is hotter than I like here in the summer, so things tend to build up. Now that the weather is cooler, that type of work is a lot easier to do. I still have a lot of wood to split, more cleanup both inside and behind the barn as well as an ongoing project on the side of the house that is going to involve a new fire pit and outdoor cooking shelter. More on that as it comes along. I am mostly waiting on long lead things to be delivered.
2025 Week 44 - What I'm Doing Now
I just wrapped up the filming and editing of my initial review of the Benchmade Dacian.
I was reminded on this one how hard it is to film the content the way I want it to look while also being in the video. It was cut short by bad weather coming in and keeping me from being outside. I didn't want to delay getting on to the next project, so I decided to let the video go. I will eventually come around to doing a long term review once I use it more, wear the edge down, and re-sharpen it.
Speaking of my next project, I am working on a Twig Stove Shootout video involving the SoloStove Titan, Uberleben Stoker and the Firebox G2. I consider these to be the big 3 in this market, so I might as well compare the features of each.
Other than that, it has just been ramblings in my brain. I am trying to avoid buying the Benchmade Station knife. I really want the knife, and I would do a review of it, but I just finished a knife review and I find them tougher than others. Hopefully somewhere down the line. The other rambling is whether or not I should integrate Tuff Possum Gear's Med Pouch into my modular bag scheme. I am already using one of their pouches for my first aid kit, but this one seems much better suited for this specific task, and would allow me to carry a few more items than I currently have.
For the coming weekend, I think it is going to be split between finishing up video work, and getting stuff down around the property now that the weather is cooler here. Until next week.......
