2026 Week 18 - What I’m Doing Now

Lots going on this week........

I just finished up my video on modifying the Grayl Titanium GeoPress to turn it into and every day water bottle. While I am ultimately making videos to learn to get better at making videos, I am happy to see that this video has been getting a lot of views (well.....for me it is :)

This is also the first video that I have shot with a new camera. It makes the workflow so much easier. I have a DJI action camera, and I just don't like the look of it for every day videos. I will still use it for certain situations, but I was never really using it. To try and get the "look" I wanted, I was using my phone. Filming with a phone is a pain in the butt. I won't go into all the details....I just want control over a lot of aspects that are just hard to do on a phone. The new camera is the Lumix S5II.

This latest video was shot with on camera audio, which is not my favorite. My mic will not directly connect to this camera, so I have ordered a receiver to use a lapel mic for the audio. So, hopefully that will get better in the future.

As far as new stuff coming, I am starting to plan a "camp site cooking" playlist, because I love cooking already, but love cooking when I am outdoors and camping. So, I am putting together a few of my favorite camp cooking recipes.

Along with that, I have a new camp kitchen knife on the way, which I plan to review. I have been drooling over the Benchmade Station knife for some time, but they recently came out with the Wildcoast. While I think I would like both knives, and will probably eventually own both, I went ahead and ordered the Wildcoast. It just looks like a great functional knife for me.

That's my big update for now. Remember, go outside, because the best views are not on a screen.
